We are real strong environmentalists here. We touched down just outside the biggest city, deep in some old woods that The Vargos flattened. I would wake just in time to know that the ship was going to fucking blow up. It was a cramped, small, under-powered flying deathtrap that would surely blow up while I was asleep in a hyper-bunk. We all knew it, but our captain, Alltem, refused to hear anything negative about her. The ship wrenched and lurched like a newborn in the doctor’s hands, metal crying out loud and sirens wailing. Our intelligence reports, all whopping one of them, said this clown we are hunting would be in one of the biggest cities, with what little people remained. All I knew was there wasn’t much human life left on this planet, and that most of it was deserted. As the ground grew bigger, cities started to come into focus. A big ocean sat to the left, and white wisps of clouds trailed on by as we hammered down. The sky was blue, the ground was brown and green.

I was seated in the back of the cabin, loaded up and tooled out to kill. Our captain, Hem Alltem, fought the controls and argued with the ship’s computers on the approach vector. That’s not a whole lot of time, especially since we, humans, can live for quite a long time. Last I heard we have about a hundred and fifty years left. A few thousand years ago some hotshot scientists figured out the universe and “all her glory” was being sucked back in to the center. To me, it’s just another job on a list of never-ending jobs until we all die.

Asleep for a year to travel to some forgotten, Anarchy State planet and pick up some guy that claims he knows the secrets to the universe or whatever. Unless there is an umbilical from the planet to a station high up, the ride is going to bounce you around. No matter the technology, it’s still a bumpy ride in. Here is a preview of the first chapter:Įntering an atmosphere sucks. I’m excited about it! It is the first in a trilogy, all of them are and will be novellas. I finished and published my first book, Hopeful Anarchy up on.
